THE DIAMOND PROGRAM
ABOUT US
The Diamond Program works with the kids age 10 - 25 years old living in Wolwerivier, Cape Town. It all starts with empowerment and education: the road to success. These kids live in an extremely impoverished environment, with no way out unless they get help. They need that push in the right direction and they will flourish and develop into successful adults, ready to conquer the world. We help them find their talent, their passion and their power, to gain that much needed confidence to make their dreams come true!

It takes a village to raise a child

WOLWERIVIER
Wolwerivier, located just outside Cape Town in the Cape Farms. Wolwerivier has been established in 2015 and has approximately 700 houses, with 5.000 and 6.000 residents from which 900 to 1.000 children (infant – 18 years old). Most of the families are broken homes, single caregivers, children living with grandparents or households where the eldest teenager/young adolescent are the head of the family. The settlement is very secluded and there is no access to basic services such as schools, clinics and hospitals, shops and public transport. The unemployment and unemployability rate is very high, combined with a low educational level or no education at all. With an average household salary of R2500 per month, the residents of Wolwerivier live below the National Poverty Line in South Africa. One of the prevalent social and interaction issues in the community is the abuse within the family: emotional, domestic, sexual and substance abuse.
